HEALTHY LUNCH SCIENCE

Wherever you are working, getting balanced, healthy lunch can be difficult. It requires time, and planning and the practicalities are key, because poor preparation leads to poor results

You really need to think about your lunch, if possible prepare something in advance that you can take with you. Because a home cooked meal will almost definitely be nutritionally superior to a sausage roll from the local bakery… So, batch cooking at the weekend is a great option, or cooking a bit too much at dinner time and taking leftovers is also a great idea.

What if you can’t heat up your food at work? Well make sandwiches or a wrap. Yep, bread ain’t gonna kill you despite what the internet may say! Just make sure that your sandwich has a good base of protein, a couple of different vegetables and isn’t smothered in spread or dressings.

If you do buy food at lunchtime, you can take advantage of the meal deals in supermarkets, but just make wise choices. Instead of a pastry, crisps and chocolate bar. Have a sandwich, or marinated meat with mini salad and a packet of fruit. Also, have a think about your drink of choice too.
