LOW FAT CHEESEY SAUSAGE ROLLS
The temptation for everything ‘pastry’ at this time of year is at an all time high, and finger food buffets can be not so forgiving if you are counting macros. With this recipe we’ve taken a favourite and made some healthy switches to create lean, super low fat sausage rolls.
Each roll contains just 85 kcal, 3g of fat, 7g of protein and 8g of carbs.
So what have we switched up…
Filo Pastry – A far lighter option than puff pastry, filo gives you all the crunch and taste without the extra added fat and calorie content.
Eatlean Smoked Cheese – We’ve given these the double smoked cheese hit using both our Smoked Block and Smoked Shaker Cheese – low fat, low cal, low carb, high protein….time to get sprinkling away! Plus the crispy smoked cheese crust tastes incredible!
Chicken Italia Sausages – We chose to opt for a quality sausage in our recipe, and the Heck sausages promise just that, with exceptionally good nutritionals. A great, lean alternative!
Lay a sheet of filo down and brush with margarine
Add another filo sheet on top and repeat with the margarine
Sprinkle cheese across the pastry and lay two sausages on top on the left hand side, one after the other
Roll up the pastry around the sausages and then cut into four pieces
Brush each of the rolls with margarine and then sprinkle a little Smoked Shaker Cheese on top
Pop in the oven at 180 degrees for 25 minutes until browned and the sausages are cooked through
