KIMCHI GRILLED CHEESE
Showing our support towards Love Your Gut Week that takes place this week we’ve been cooking up our favourite cheese toastie with a twist – with a little help from our fermented friend Kimchi!
If you haven’t yet tried the flavour combination of melted cheese and Kimchi, then we are about to introduce you to a flavour sensation that elevates both your standard toastie recipe….and your good bacteria levels up a notch or two!
What is Kimchi? A traditional Korean dish, comprising of mixed vegetables, chilli, garlic, salt and fish sauce, which is allowed to pickle and ferment, preserving the vegetables, and creating a really delicious side dish/condiment!
Why should I try it? Apart from being a key ingredient of this great tasting high protein snack, kimchi boasts a whole host of benefits, from being super low in calories yet nutritionally dense, to reducing inflammation and supporting your immune system. The fermentation process increases the levels of gut-friendly bacteria bringing a whole host of health benefits, starting with your digestive system.
So what have we switched up?

From spreading it on a cracker, to making a sumptuous carbonara sauce. How about a cauliflower cheese, or you can even use it in cheesecake if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous!

x2 Slices of Sourdough
50g Kimchi
1tsp Black Sesame Seeds
x1 Egg
Method
Take the bread slices and spread evenly with a layer of Eatlean Spreadable Cheese
Top with a generous layer of Kimchi
Finish with the Eatlean Grated Cheese
Place the slices on top of one another and then brush the top of the toastie with the egg, and finish with a sprinkling of sesame seeds
Pop into the toastie maker/grill and cook until the cheese is fully melted and starting to ooze.
